They grossed 5436 votes, an average of nearly 250 each. Detailed results are available in our Election Results Pages Our campaigns were conducted under a clear socialist banner, promoting the Socialist Alliance programme 'People Before Profit' and arguing the need for a new mass working class party for socialism. We are sure that you will agree with us that the results were very encouraging and that they showed that there is a resonance within the working class for the ideas of socialism and for a workers' party. The Democratic Socialist Alliance is resolved to build upon the work we did in these elections. The political vacuum to the left of the Labour Party must be filled by socialists working together to build a workers party, which is serious about winning political power.
